Within the framework of international collaboration, the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan acted as a partner and co-organizer of the international scientific seminar “Foreign Expats in Azerbaijan and Georgia, 1870–1920”, a large-scale research project being implemented in Azerbaijan for the first time. The seminar, held on 9 June at Villa Petrolea, was jointly organized by the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan, the Aleksanteri Institute of the University of Helsinki, the Embassies of Germany and Sweden in Azerbaijan, the Office of the Ambassador of Finland to the South Caucasus, the Max Weber Foundation of Germany, and the National Archives of Georgia. Scholars from Azerbaijan, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Georgia, and Sweden delivered presentations and engaged in extensive academic discussions. As part of the event, the exhibition “Foreign Expats in Azerbaijan and Georgia, 1870–1920” was presented, featuring photographs and archival documents preserved in foreign archives and museums, as well as in the collections of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan. During the international seminar, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan and the Aleksanteri Institute of the University of Helsinki. The memorandum envisages the implementation of joint research projects, the organization of seminars and master classes, and the facilitation of research visits aimed at further expanding cooperation between the institutions.
